Two estranged friends (Lily and Amanda) make a plan to commit a murder on Lily’s stepfather.

“It’s only weird if you make it weird.”

I’ve been hearing so much buzz about this film after being compared to American Psycho and Heathers, I’ve been waiting impatiently for its release. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely! Is it as good or the same as American Psycho or Heathers? Not quite but close in my opinion. This film is a one of kind. It has dark comedy mixed with standard comedy, witty dialogue, suspense, a great small cast, and a beautiful setting. The main characters are perfect and have great chemistry. Lily (Anya Taylor-Joy) feels everything just like a normal human being while Amanda (Olivia Cooke) feels nor has emotions at all. Their conversations on different views on opinions or one’s way of life is very interesting or hilarious. The stepfather is a HUGE jerk to everyone he meets no matter who they are. He’s no saint but the whole point of the film is that no one is innocent as they seem. The thing that surprised me most in the film is that it was supposed to be a play. It proves it by not going out to different big locations a lot. Mostly half of the film is indoors in a small area or one location outside.Tracking shots are used a lot even one shot takes. Another great surprise is it’s very unpredictable. At times I thought I knew where a scene was going but it took one unexpected turn to the next. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves films or just want something good to watch. It might be boring to some who don’t like slow burn character based movies and that’s all good. To me, it’s one of my favorite movies of the year. Verdict: 8.1.
